Georgia Watch Now a Regional Roll-Out for The Leapfrog Group

Georgia Watch is proud to announce a new partnership with The Leapfrog Group to encourage transparency, promote patient safety, and educate healthcare consumers. As Leapfrog’s new dedicated “Roll-Out” in Metro Atlanta, we hope to motivate community-wide collaboration to improve healthcare quality.

LeapfrogHighResThe Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American healthcare. Their Hospital Safety Score assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections.  The Leapfrog Hospital Survey collects and transparently reports data on hospital performance and patient outcomes, giving consumers the information they need to make the best possible decisions about their care.  The Leapfrog Hospital Survey is the only nationally standardized and endorsed measure set that enables hospitals to publicly report on patient safety, quality, and resource utilization. The measures on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey are predicated on the latest science and harmonized with national reporting entities including CMS, the Joint Commission and the National Quality Forum.

“As a Regional Roll-Out organization in Metro Atlanta for The Leapfrog Group, Georgia Watch will educate the public about the Hospital Safety Score so that consumers can know to use it as a resource when choosing where to get their care.  We will also encourage hospitals to be more transparent by voluntarily reporting their data and outcomes in categories such as high-risk surgeries and maternity care,” said Health Access Program Director Beth Stephens.  “We want to empower Georgia consumers with hospital safety and quality data that can help them make the best decisions possible about their care.”
